Run backwards on defense. This especially applies to guards who are the first to get back on a defensive fast break. Guards should never turn their back on the ball and risk not knowing where the ball is. Always know where the ball is!
If you’re a guard running backwards during a fast break you should be commanding the floor. Talk. Tell everyone on the floor where to go and determine if you or another teammate should stop the ball. If you’re not good at running backwards or it feels awkward, then practice it. Practice it until it feels right and before you know it you’ll never be turning your back to the ball.
